What can we do to bring positive change to our lives and have an impact on those around us and the world we live in? The challenges of today are more evident than ever, expressed by many in different ways according to experience and how much thought is given to the state of our world, a world that is demonstrating imbalance in all areas of life. Without balance there is chaos because the void that appears when things are not in balance, when people are not in balance, is filled with destructive elements. How much has human behaviour caused the right conditions for the evident sickness of our world, and how can we find hope for the future?
We might ask fundamental questions such as 'Who am I? Why am I here? Where have I come from? What is the purpose of life?' But perhaps we might also wonder why certain things are happening? What is the root cause? Is there a purpose to it all? Many questions from many minds, following different paths in their quest for answers. Searching is good, doubting is healthy, and gives the individual a chance to get to a comfortable place. No one should take away a person's right to think for themselves and decide what is truthful in their own minds. Ultimately, we all need to ask the right questions to find the right answers, which can lead us to understanding. Anything else will see chaos and uncertainty persist. However, knowing ourselves well, in truth, is a critical first step to ensure future stability. This will help us identify our value and purpose, bringing peace of mind and fulfilment.
To this end, I believe we are all connected through something fundamental inside us that has been largely forgotten, suffocated by the impact of our physical, material and noisy world. This richer, deeper part of us contains knowledge, wisdom and peace, and has eternal life. I would call this our spirit, our mind, where we will find the answers to live our lives with purpose and fulfilment. Each life we take is to learn and progress as a spirit, the memory retained like a pearl on a necklace, unique, separate and eternal within our minds. We could view this experience as an eternal weave, part of the overall tapestry of our Universe and our individual evolvement as a spirit. Made by whom? Perhaps a force beyond our imaginings.
So, how could understanding of spirit give us hope for the future? If spirit can be viewed as a science, part of a Natural Law that governs the Universe, with clarity, simplicity, reason and logic, is this a good starting place? Are we looking at physical examples of technology and destruction from our past with eyes clouded by theories that, so often repeated, become fact? For example, questions about the laser-like precision of pyramid buildings, the Nazca lines, the early drawn maps, and the nuclear bomb evidence, currently seen as meteor damage rather than the possibility of human activity not recorded in any history books. Have we descended from apes, or have apes descended from us? Are the centaurs, the minotaur and the Sphinx a warning of past behaviour? Perhaps we should question more using our minds, where logic and reason can help us decide. Ultimately, we need to understand how evil works in its quest for power and wealth, to control this in the future and maintain a balance.
If people accepted that there is more than just a physical body, then many areas of life could be resolved as this understanding of our structure and what life is truly about is shared and explained. For example, we could see that we are unique in so many ways but also equal. The many lives we might have lived will have been in different races and cultures, and past civilisations as both men and women, so we will experience all things over time. If children from a young age could be taught spiritual values such as truth, graciousness in communication, and learn about their structure and purpose, they could be encouraged and guided to know themselves well as an individual and learn what interests them to take them forward in future study and practical application, which would give meaning and fulfilment to their lives. Would we not have well-balanced, happy young people? Conflict could be replaced by curiosity, and equality would cease to be an issue.
It is also from our minds that we find the creativity to express ourselves in whatever medium we are drawn to. Depending on our age, spiritually, the depth of knowledge and wisdom will show in our output. So, the more we can surface the mind, the more opportunity for creative inspiration. Meditation, a beneficial tool, will help quieten the brain and surface our minds.
If truth is the 'daughter of time,' then awakening minds will surely give us the fruit of understanding our world and those that survive this time will need in the future. As one wall crumbles, another can build up in its place with pinpricks of light coming together to join in strength and stand up for the truth. Going through the fires will test us but ultimately make us stronger. As events unfold, having the strength of mind will give us resilience to adapt and keep a positive mindset, but sharing and coming together are key to a brighter future.
Looking back with understanding, we can forge a world where the science of spirit takes us forward, using the creativity and clarity from our minds to develop new forms of medicine and technology, re-discover energies for the use of all, and work with an appreciation and concern for our natural world that all our children can enjoy and take forward into the future.
In writing about the future, I want to give people hope through a positive lens, explaining my belief of what life is about and how we can all do something to help by starting with the truth of who we are. In raising specific questions, I hope to stimulate thought in connection with the purpose of life, why things are going wrong in the world, and what can be done by all of us individually and coming together, to return our world into balance and good health.
For more than 40 years, I have been a student of The Erasmus Foundation, a spiritual teaching and healing centre based in Laxfield, Suffolk, UK. The teachings have come from Spirit, and in the early days, this was done through a deep trance medium, Paddina Cole, who started the charity with her husband, Gordon Cole.
From the start, I was fascinated with reincarnation and found that much of what I heard made sense with its simplicity, logic, and reason. It was important to me that this teaching was offered for us to think about, with no imposition for us to either believe what was being said, or continue to attend the meetings.
As my knowledge and understanding of spirit broadened, and as my life matured and developed, I came to appreciate the importance of truth, and how getting to know yourself well was the key to finding purpose and peace of mind. It was also the case that what I thought I had understood in those early days of tuition had more profound meaning as events and situations happened in my life. This is why I feel that understanding is an essential part of our education in this University of Life as we face the truth with spiritual strength and courage, understanding our abilities, as well as our limitations. In addition, I believe we all have a gift to do or be something, but this gift is for the benefit of others.
I sincerely hope that events of this time, with great change and opportunity to learn, will strike the spark within us all, enabling us to walk the path laid out for us which can give us riches beyond our imagination.
