A Step in Time

This was written in the 1980s and discovered recently by Julia amongst her papers.

Eyes to see,

Ears to listen,

Tongues to speak

But something's missing.

For we are blind to all that's good

And do not listen like we should.

We speak the words without a thought

To our living planet like we ought.

Earth so tired,

Trees so sparse.

Water polluted,

This can't last.

And winds are rising with a voice so strong,

To tell Mankind he hasn't got long.

This is a warning we must all hear

To cure the sickness that is Man's fear.

Nature's forgotten,

Greed overrules.

Man's own weakness,

Satan's tools.

It's time for us to use our minds,

To look for knowledge we must find.

But not to travel far and wide –

Just sit down quietly and look inside.
