Winter Newsletter 2023
'In the due season' is a phrase we have often heard over the years from our tutors, and still do today. It says so much. If we find the patience, and have acceptance, such a thing will happen, or might happen, when it is meant; in other words, in the due season. And if we don't have the patience or acceptance, it may also happen 'in the due season'! But, it is much more comfortable for us if we can find these qualities of patience and acceptance, which is helped of course with the understanding we are given in The Erasmus Foundation about the fact that the Great Mind has a plan and an overall Tapestry for the Universe where logic, simplicity and order are a part of the progress of life. We also need the endeavour, of course, and not just to sit back and wait for something to happen, or expect something to happen with no input or responsibility from ourselves.
So, there is a logic and a reason and a purpose for all that happens; all part of the Natural Law which demonstrates change constantly. Nothing is the same as the second before, the moment before, something has moved on, progressed through a happening, a thought.
If we are here to learn, spiritually, and some of what we learn is what we might call 'good' and some 'evil', then is the purpose in all that happens a test for our responsibility and how we react and behave following an event or experience? So, maybe the important aspect is what we learn and how we think after an experience which, in my view, is a simple and, potentially, positive approach to all that happens in life, even if it might take some time and some reflection later on to perhaps get to that point. Life, after all, throws up some very difficult challenges at this time. Some things that happen are a part of our life, our Tapestry, and have an impact on our life personally; some things we observe and learn about in the wider community and world and, of course, some of these things also affect us you might say directly because of the thoughts and the feelings these events might draw from us and, indeed, actions that might also result to make a contribution to the learning of all. The Great Mind, of course, has created a Universal Tapestry in which we all have a part to play; we are all connected so that we may learn, and we might also teach some people we may never meet or know.
So, all that happens is meant to be and not by chance. On occasion recently there have been some events that many might call evil practise. One such story involved a nurse killing a number of very young and vulnerable babies, leaving many distraught and traumatised parents and other family members. This has very obviously and understandably shocked many people, and the question is being asked how and why could someone do such a thing? It is indeed a difficult action to understand and think about. However, in the Foundation we believe that everyone has a Tapestry and that the times we are living in are the most evil the World has ever experienced. Even so, it is of course a shocking story. So, although this would be unacceptable at this time by many – and that is quite understandable - the nurse was living her Tapestry that the Great Mind created for her; she had to do the things she did.
A point made by Paddina at a recent meeting about this case, is that there is a time for everything, and a reason for certain things, certain events, to happen at a given time. So, perhaps when these events happen which are quite shocking, perhaps we should ask 'Why?' Because there is always a reason. Was this event meant to be at this time to help us learn how evil can operate and how it is able to do so at this time? But, could we say that with everything there is a positive aspect? Because for something to happen that is so shocking there must surely be some actions and thoughts that will come from this that will improve things and teach much? If it makes people think more, that is good. If it encourages more openness and truth in communications, that is good. In time, evil will be understood and we will know how to control it and so, logically, there will not be a need for such a headline and such a tragic story. Our future education system, as we have written about in The Erasmus Foundation, with spiritual knowledge and understanding, will pick up anything at an early age that is not right and contrary to the Natural Law and this will be carefully and thoughtfully worked through with a young person so that a balance is maintained going forward.
So, in the due season such things can be spoken about in a different way because there will be the understanding of good and evil, and that there is a Great Mind in control who created the Natural Law whereby evil is contrary to all it stands for. Our Tapestries have been designed by the Great Mind so that we have the opportunity to learn what evil is and how it works. The World will know, in the due season, that we are all Spirit with a value and eternal existence, and that we are here to learn. We will understand recent history in particular, and that certain things had to happen when they did to enable us to think and learn. Will the changes that come from more thinking and learning be positive? I think so, if we start to use our minds more and come together to share the learning. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.
