Remedy for a Sick World

31st August 2024

What is the remedy for a sick world? Because a remedy is needed to heal the polarisation and extreme behaviour of our times. People are seeking answers and justice in a swaying tide of humanity looking for a way out of this chaos. There is anger, because of a lack of truth and action to put things right, and those in authority are not trusted. Communication is often disrespectful, noisy and inflammatory, and division is widespread. There also seems to be a lack of kindness and concern, especially for the young and vulnerable; a crisis would seem to be looming in education as more children are demonstrating mental health problems and not wanting to attend school, and teachers are struggling to cope. It is hard to imagine how difficult it must be growing up in such a world. At the same time, climate change events are increasing their speed and disease is mutating and strengthening giving many cause for concern.

So often, we see and hear the symptoms of an issue being addressed rather than the root cause. You rarely hear people ask, 'Why? ' If this was asked enough times, we would find ourselves zooming out to look at the World as a whole and joining the dots of collective responsibility for what we have done. It might also help us to think about how to bring things to order. What will be understood one day, of course, will be what has been described to us by Spirit as a cobweb of darkness around the planet, concentrated in some places more than others, and reflecting our biggest lesson which is to understand evil and how to overcome it.

How has the World become so sick? Fundamentally, there is an imbalance in the World brought about by human behaviour which has created the right conditions for such a state. The void created from this imbalance is then filled with chaos. This chaos then plays out in our homes, streets, communities, nations, and world to display the terrifying headlines, the problems and the difficulties all people are facing to some degree or other. We are also seeing nature and wildlife suffering, which adds to the despair of those more sensitive to the imbalance. Put more starkly, and as we would understand here in the Foundation, we are seeing the consequences of going against the Natural Law that governs the Universe, created by the Great Mind.

What do we mean by 'going against the Natural Law'? Well, truth is the pivot of the Natural Law and so if someone gives falsehood this is adding to the pool of chaos. We are all equal in the eyes of the Great Mind, and this will be reflected in the Natural Law, and so if we promote the Self and allow our ego to blind us in our dealings with others, this will also add to the chaos. If we are not thinking of others and allow greed to consume us, this will add to the imbalance and the chaos of our world. These, and many other examples that reflect things such as jealousy, envy, and cruelty are affecting the health of our planet and taking us further and further away from the core of our being and into the arms of evil, which thrives on weakness.

So, what can we do? Truth being the pivot of the Natural Law, must also be the central essence of our endeavour to find a sense of balance of who we are, and a sense of purpose for what we are here to do. From the early days of our spiritual tuition we would often hear that by getting to know ourselves, physically and spiritually, and bringing the two together to become one, we would then identify with the one, the Great Mind. I don't think I fully understood what that meant in those days, but I am clearer now. Essentially, it is working on yourself to find the truth, understanding and accepting this truth and bringing more peace into your life. Quietening the brain through meditation, for example, is essential for this exercise because you are reaching for your mind to help with this aim. From your mind will come clarity and answers to questions which will help you get to know your physical self better and, at the same time, you learn so much through being with others and being tested at times. The more you get to know the physical self, you make your physical self more transparent, and this allows you to be able to see and sense your spiritual self more. This will all be working towards bringing the two together to identify with the Great Mind and come into balance.

Perhaps the word 'responsibility' is not spoken about enough, but this is an important word taught by Almatia to the very young spirits at Home. To show our maturity here and now on the Earth, I believe we need to understand that we all have our part to play, we all have some responsibility to cleanse our world of sickness because we have all been a part of its decline over time and through many lives. It is not enough to say "Well, what can I do?" Because the Great Mind has designed our Tapestries with purpose, and that purpose will have something to do with the times we are living in and the work that is needed to lay the future we would all want to see if we were looking down from where we have come from. If we make some effort, our spiritual friends and tutors will draw near and help us, but we must decide that this is something we want to do and then act on that decision. The strength will come as we surface our minds to encourage the belief that we have a purpose and a gift to benefit others.

With all the chaos we are seeing, there are signs of positivity; and is this not the balance for our spiritual education? One 'wall' will be coming down, while another is going up, as I heard many years ago at the Barbican. As some awful event happens, or if an issue is taking centre stage in our news, you will often hear voices of logic and reason, thinking beyond themselves and for the common good. Diversity should be inclusive, generous, and open, such as the spectacle of the Olympics and Paralympics currently playing out on our screens. The Edinburgh Festival is also an example where diversity and inclusion are a part of its make-up. Created in the aftermath of the Second World War as a counterpoint to the prejudice and division of the preceding decades, it has always brought people of different cultures and viewpoints together. Also, in looking through the list of magazine publishers I receive through 'Author's Publish, I often read that magazines do not welcome any extreme, hateful, racist or inflammatory writing. They encourage diversity and sometimes are calling for writers from particular ethnic groups, or those that have been less represented in recent times. There are also people who are looking to farm the land in a more sustainable way, working with nature and not using anything that would pollute the ground and wildlife. It is more recognised that nature can help in so many ways with our physical and mental health and this was highlighted during the Covid lockdown; research in science and medicine is also encouraging, looking at nature and looking for new forms of energy that are kinder to the planet and accessible for all, such as nuclear fusion.

I know that our spiritual tutors are pleased that people are questioning more and that the glimmers of light are more evident as people search for answers and seek the truth. The young, in particular, are searching we are told; it is their future they are looking ahead to and they can't like what they see and hear.

This all demonstrates that the remedy for a sick world is Spirit. It is from Spirit, our mind, that we will find the answers that are simple and logical, and this will give people hope for the future and encouragement to learn more spiritually. We will need our minds to survive because without the logic and reason of spiritual tuition, we will be lost and afraid. More importantly, it is from the mind where we will find the strength and resolve to learn about evil and understand what evil is and how it operates; is this not the ultimate lesson of all time that must be learnt?

We need the darkness to see the light, and as events unfold in the way the Great Mind has planned in order for us to wake up, listen and learn, the understanding that will come to show us the road out of this chaos will surely be a joy for all of Spirit and the Great Mind to witness and a wonderful opportunity for those on Earth to experience. The wonder of the Great Mind will perhaps be more in the minds of many as the realisation of what has been, what is, and what could and will be dawns; and the meaning of life is answered.
