It's heartening to read all the positive work that is being done to tackle the pollution of our air, soil and water – and thank you for giving this explanation of some of the problems and solutions. It's a pity that the media and the Government don't educate people more fully – but would people be interested? A growing number perhaps would, but are most just concerned with surviving in this fast-paced, noisy and polluted world and looking for cheap food to help them get by? Are some people in Governments generally too in awe, in fear of or even in cahoots with the big business operations whose first goal it would seem is profit and greed is not a dirty word? I think the key to change is truth, but sadly I believe the speed of change, due to climate change and the pollution and poisoning of our world, is not fully appreciated even though you do hear some scientists say that things are moving more quickly than they had anticipated. Disease is still around, even if it is not making the biggest headlines, but if the pollution of soil, water and air is not given top priority and action to change all our behaviour, then are we not storing up a time of serious disease with all the difficulties and upset this brings? We must hope the new Government is adaptable and resilient enough to cope if things move swiftly.
