Adaptability

Summer Newsletter 2023

I am just about to start writing something for the newsletter – washing up done, a few other bits and pieces sorted in the kitchen – but then Hedley tells me that the new sit on electric mower is on its way! "I was just going to sit down and write something for you for the newsletter!", I say. Well, you have to adapt don't you? So, I will continue to think of something to write about and make a start, but there may be an interval for the mower delivery and demonstration – not quite like an ice cream but a welcome arrival given the grass here at Moat is so long. In fact, the garden is transformed at the moment with foot high grass, not to mention the walking bamboo canes emerging from the bamboo area itself. Hopefully the new mower will be up to the job, but no doubt the first cut will have to be high – and then I will have to go around again.

Does this give me something to write about? Perhaps in thinking about a journey of self-discovery you maybe have to 'go around again', maybe revisit thoughts from your first attempts of self-analysis and which have been shown up through experience to have not been so accurate. We would say, of course, that any endeavour is worthwhile and any knowledge learnt is valuable, and as long as truth is your guiding light then it matters not if you have not got things quite right and you have to think again, and again, and again about how you are as a person. It is logical that you will only have a certain picture to start with, particularly if you are in a bit of a muddle and have created a false image of yourself in your own mind from the pre-awakening period – meaning of course before meeting the Fellowship and Paddina and Gordon.

In the early days Paddina suggested we could get a piece of paper and write down our strengths on one side and our weaknesses on the other. For some reason I always had a lengthy list on the weaknesses side which perhaps tells me something of that time; but gradually you find a better balance, and some thoughts of positivity come from an understanding of why you have been weak. And understanding is key to realising not only a little spiritual strength, but also the start of some acceptance of who you are, your nature, your abilities, your limitations, and so much more. Understanding will come to the world but according to the events that are to come (and which have already started), it will be once we have been through the storm of a financial crash and a shortage of food; both humbling and life changing experiences to a greater or lesser degree for everyone in the world and which will lay bare all our inadequacies.

So, you need events in your life to give you an understanding of yourself and others; and it may take many situations to help you see a truth and then slowly you can build up a belief in yourself for what you might be here to do – your purpose, of course. You wouldn't be here without one, a wonderful gift from the Great Mind, and a piece in the jigsaw that is the Overall Tapestry of the world; a grain of sand, a drop of water – some analogies of you as an individual which are minute in the grand scheme of things and which you understand as you acknowledge truth and subjugate the ego. You come to realise how small you are, whilst at the same time being in awe of the Great Mind and all that he has created and designed. Nature and our natural world are truly magnificent and worth fighting for to bring it back to health and balance. This will be wonderful work and very enriching for those who are on the Earth in the coming times; but those of us in the eye of the storm right now, equally enriching because human nature will be stretched and spiritual strength called upon in spades. It will be testing, it will be illuminating, and it will bring people together as they should be.

So, if at the moment life entails going around again, and again to get to a better place within yourself, this is simply the way the world is at the moment, the place we have collectively brought it to through absence of an early solid foundation in childhood for many, as well as past actions and decisions perhaps going back hundreds or even thousands of years; so, if you find some responsibility from within yourself to put your tuppence into the mix then will this not help bring about a world in the future where the Great Mind and his children feel all is well?
